Content Selection Procedure

The value of our patent-pending  model for assessing, indexing and ranking management science across all research output formats stems from the depth, breadth, thoroughness and robustness of our curation procedure making the Management Research Relevance and Impact Index™ (MARRII Full Collection) the world's first, only and foremost indexation database to fully and exclusively curate and index management research that is the most relevant, useful and impactful to management practitioners.

Unlike existing generic citation-based indexation databases whose curation processes are conducted by either editorial boards made up exclusively of career publishers and librarians or content selection boards predominantly composed of academics; our curation process is different in the sense that both the primary subject and object of our procedure pertain to management practitioners.

Therefore, our curation process is spear-headed by our Relevant Content Selection Advisory Board (RCSAB) which is composed of subject/disciplinary committees made up of 3 co-chairs each in the ratio of one senior management academic to two expert long-tenured management practitioners. This ratio reflects the primary stakeholders of management science:  management scholars/scholar practitioners who generate management research, and management practitioners for whom management research is ideally developed. It also reflects proportionally the importance we at MARRII place on the relevance and impact of management research on management practitioners, because in the real world, the end-user (in this case management practitioners) is the most important judge of the utility of the end-product (in this case management research). This makes MARRII the world's first and only management science curation and indexation database to actively include management practitioners and give their voice considerable weight in the evaluation of management research.

However, irrespective of the origin of our advisory board members (academia or practice) an important criteria for appointing RCSAB members is non-affiliation with publishers and a mandatory obligation to recuse if and when a conflict of interest situation arises.

In total, our current RCSAB is made up of 5 subject/disciplinary committees (to reflect our inaugural subject areas), and 15 advisory board members. The number of committees and board members will be incrementally increased as we onboard new management subject/disciplinary content areas. The RCSAB works with our internal editorial team to review, influence and direct how we curate management science to ensure that MARRII develops and maintains a global database of management science that is the most relevant, useful and impactful to management practitioners.
